ASHI’s mission is to continually improve safety and health education by promoting high standards for members, principals of sound research for curriculum development and the professional development of safety and health instructors worldwide. ASHI Instructor Trainers (IT’s) and Master Instructor Trainers (MIT’s) are training experts and an important resource to ASHI, ASHI-authorized Instructors and Training Centers. They are responsible for developing new instructors of sufficient quality to teach, evaluate, and certify participants in ASHI training programs.

Participants in the Instructor Development Course will receive the knowledge and skills they need to become effective educators; they will develop the confidence and competence needed to teach, evaluate, and certify participants in ASHI training programs. Not everyone is a born teacher, but ASHI’s Instructor Development Course prepares anyone to become an accomplished Instructor. The IDC’s core content consists of fundamentals of presentation and skills instruction. The IDC program can be customized with provider-level program content to meet Instructor-candidates’ needs. Although any Training Center may purchase IDC materials, only ASHI-authorized IT or MIT are authorized to provide the course and certify Instructors.
